I just attempted to use the product as per the instructions on the side of the container. Unfortunately, there seems to be a worsening in the standing water after trying to water down the product. I have been advised to use Drano Max Gel or a snake. Is there an optimal solution? Should I just call my landlord?

Do a search on youtube for how to clean a shower drain. Many different ways to clean a drain are demonstrated there. A tub may be different from a stand-up shower as they have different types of stoppers.
