Our upstairs shower drain is clogged….pretty bad. It has been clogged before, usualy every month or so. Normal we can pull the drain plunger thingy (the thing to seal the drain for taking baths) and stick something down the drain to pull out hair and stuff that clogged it. But this time it hasn’t done anything. Neither has taking a plunger to it. We have no idea what else to do. We dont have the money to pay a plumber to fix it. I guess there is some type of internal screen/block off thing inside the drain. And thats how my mom use to fix the clogs because it would catch most of the stuff there. What can we do to fix this???

try draino?
maybe that foaming pipe snake thinger(i think thats by draino) that they just came out with will be able to push everything down and out??
I would pour Draino down the drain, which will clear up all that gunk. If it doesn’t try to plunge it again.
I always use draino for my showers. I’ve had it so clogged before that nothing would go down and it would fill up like a bath tub. Buy a couple bottles of draino or something similar and start with using one whole bottle. See if that made any difference. Add more if needed.
What my family does when the apartment’s shower drain gets clogged is we buy this unclogging formula thing that you can find in your local hardware store and you pour it into the drain (it’s acid) and it burns off the clog.
Try Liquid Plumber Foaming Pipe Snake first. You can get it at the grocery store. We used to put this down the shower drain every 3-4 months. It works good on clogged showers.
get a comode snake and run down the drain that will clean it out thecost about 20 dollars , if taken care of they last for a very long yime good thing to have around the house.
There is no screen in the drain. It probably is plugged with hair and soap residue. Unless you can find a product that will dissolve hair, the only way to clear the problem is to remove the hair. Try running the water while poking and rotating a wire , such as a coat hanger , in the drain.
the stopper should unscrew so u can get down there easier…draino and that other crap sux
Sory but you need some one to clean that drain with a snake.
Strong chemicals can damage the drain and cause alot more expense.
Make sure when your plunging, to push down slow pull up fast. The goal is to suck it out not push it in. Most people do it wrong.
